The South Florida Prison Book Project sends free books to prisoners in the state of Florida upon request.

Through this service, we not only provide a much-needed distraction from the grim reality of prison life, but enable exchange of ideas and information between people on both sides of the bars. We aim to build genuine connections with the prisoners we serve, as well as educate those of us not incarcerated about the injustices of the prison system.

Each week, we receive letters in the mail from prisoners requesting books, and we fulfill these requests with literature from our extensive library at Outspokin, our headquarters in Lake Worth, Florida.

We raise money for postage and rent through book sales, benefit concerts, and private donations, and we are constantly looking for new volunteers.

The South Florida Prison Book Project has been operational since 2011.

It is secular, volunteer-run, and 100% nonprofit.
